Installation instructions for window films

Step by step installation - the way to the goal

Preparation

Get the following accessories ready: glass cleaning agent, installation fluid (release agent and lubricant), distilled water, glass cleaning scraper, plastic squeegee and a cutter knife. Also two spray bottles - one for the glass cleaning agent and one for the assembly fluid. For large-area installations, you may need an edge ruler for cutting the film along the glass frame.

Execution

1. Spray the glass surface with the glass cleaning agent and clean the window pane of dirt and stains. Carefully remove any dirt from the wet glass surface with the glass cleaning scraper.

2. Remove the transparent protective film protecting the adhesive layer of the backside of the window film. Tip: Stick two strips of tape to the upper outer corners of the film - one strip of tape at the top and one strip of tape at the bottom - and pull the strips apart in opposite directions.

3. Spray the installation fluid onto the front and back of the film. This will neutralize the static charge on the film surface (less dust and dirt particles being attracted from the air).

4. Also spray the cleaned glass surface with release agent and lubricant. The more assembly fluid you use, the easier it is to correct or move the position of the film on the glass surface.

5. Apply the window film with the wet adhesive side to the wet glass pane. Peel off the protective film piece by piece downwards. Position one edge of the film so that it is 1-2 mm away all around from the window frame.

6. Use the cutting knife to cut the remaining sides of the window film to size along the window frame so that the edges are also 1-2 mm away from the window frame. Use the cutting knife and the edge ruler. Note: This step is not necessary if you have already cut the film to the exact installation size before starting work.

7. Remove the cut-off film residue. Note: This step is also not necessary if you have already cut the film to the exact installation size before starting work.

8. Spray the window film again with installation fluid and use the squeegee to completely remove any liquid and air bubbles remaining under the film. Start in the middle and move the squeegee several times from the inside to the edge.n.

9. At the end of the foil application, wipe every corner and edge dry with a soft, lint-free paper towel. This will prevent the squeezed-out assembly fluid from seeping back under the foil.
