Installation: Install the self-adhesive foil step by step

The foils are self-adhesive and usually are processed using the so-called wet adhesive process. Read here how to proceed step by step with the installation:

1. Clean the surface to be coated thoroughly and spray it with installation fluid (release and lubricant agent).
2. According window frames, cut the foil so that the edges of the coating have a distance of 1-2 mm to the frame.
3. Peel off the protective liner on the backside of the coating and also spray the adhesive side with installation fluid.
4. Apply the wet film to the sprayed window surface and position it to the desired location on the surface.
5. Squeeze everything with a squeegee bubble-free, starting from the center of the coating to the edges.
6. Finally, all you have to do is to wipe the wet edges dry with a cloth, after this the installation is finished.

The application of static foils is carried out in the same way. With the difference that no installation fluid is neccessary, distilled water is enough. Many adhesive foils, such as mirror foils, blackboard and whiteboard coatings, can also be glued dry. In the case of decorative glass foils that are provided with an application tape, the last step is to remove the application tape.

Care tips: How adhesive films last a long time

1. Surfaces covered with adhesive films should always be cleaned wet. Small particles can cause scratches when cleaning it with a dry cloth.
2. Aggressive cleaning agents containing abrasive particles should not be used. A mild detergent or conventional glass cleaner is better.
3. So cleaning is best done with plenty of water. A rubber squeegee and the use of commercial glass cleaning agents are suitable aids.
4. The best results are achieved when washing dry from the center to the edge. This is the ideal to wash out excess water or dirt.
5. In order to maintain the cleanliness outdoors, we recommend carrying out the cleaning described above 3-4 times a year.
