Paint protection films are self-adhesive and made of aliphatic polyurethane. The glossy adhesive film is extremely resistant. In the standard version, it has a permanently transparent appearance and protects against yellowing. The self-adhesive stone chip protection film is car wash-proof and can withstand high-pressure cleaners. The adhesive film is also UV and weather-resistant. The protective film can be removed even after years of use without leaving any adhesive residue on the paint surface.

New film is cheaper than new paint

Painted surfaces that have been damaged by scratches often have to be repainted, which is time-consuming and expensive. Surfaces covered with a paint protection film, on the other hand, remain clear, clean and undamaged when hit by stones, as the impacts are absorbed by the paint film in the vast majority of cases. Ordering such a protective film is significantly cheaper than repainting the damaged area. A UV absorber integrated into the adhesive layer also ensures that the aggressive UV radiation from sunlight cannot cause premature fading damage.

Even areas on entrances and wheel arches that are exposed to frequent friction can be permanently protected from paint damage with these films. Paint protection films with a thickness of 200 my are particularly resistant and are therefore usually used on the hood, sills, loading edges and trunk as loading edge protection.

Application: Paint protection films usable in many ways

Typical areas of application are vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, mobile homes, boats, furniture, metal, mirrors and marble. After installation, the paint is permanently protected from paint damage on bumpers, headlights, fenders, exterior mirrors and hoods. If the vehicle is to be protected all around, a full paint protection bond is recommended.

The foiling is done in just a few steps and with a little skill can be done by laymen without any bubbles.

Wet installation of paint protection films

It is best to roughly pre-cut the paint protection film with a cutter knife. Then thoroughly clean the surface to be glued and spray with a little installation fluid (release agent and lubricant). Peel off the silicone paper on the back of the film, spray the adhesive side and position it on the surface. Depending on the course of the body edges and openings, place the film in the middle or start smoothing the film from the left or right. Then trim any protruding edges of the film. Then cut off any protruding edges of the film to fit perfectly and finally peel off the transparent protective film and the application is complete.

Using a hot air blower

When gluing onto strong convex or curved areas, the part of the paint protection film with the largest surface area should be squeegeed first. This is often the case with door entrances or loading sills. To ensure that the paint protection film fits perfectly around edges and corners, it may be necessary to carefully heat the paint protection film with a hot air blower. This makes the film more stretchable and flexible, which means it can be pulled into shape. This makes it easier to adjust to uneven areas and lay it without creases.
